Welcome to the Kevin M. Brozek Community Center in Rural Ridge

Officially named the Kevin M. Brozek community center, the site hosts events for Rural Ridge and surrounding communities. Maintained and operated by the Township of Indiana, the center is available for rental and for community events. Feel free to use the contact form to request more information. Please come down and visit the center and enjoy some of the wonderful programs already in place.

    Summer Camps are Here!

Please download this brochure for some camps that are starting this
summer at our Community Center. For everyone who argued
that we should not have a tenant there because WE wanted to use the
Community Center, now is your chance! We need to make things like this
successful by enrolling or the Community Center will fail to thrive and
the township will very likely “take it back from us” (just my opinion,
take it for what it’s worth).  If you can, please do you best to support
    programs like this!

    Thanks,
    Heather

    Yoga Update

Unfortunately we have lost our Yoga Instructor. She has taken another project that conflicts with available times at the center. We are currently searching for another instructor. If you know of an instructor please contact me and I will be happy to speak with them about setting up a program. This is a very popular program, we have quite a few people already signed up from our earlier post. I will do my best to get this program off the ground ASAP.

Need Some Help Getting to the Next Level?

I am in the process of creating a “Career Development and Resume Writing Workshop” for our community. I will offer this program free to all township residents. Once I determine there is enough interest, I will conduct this program once a month, in the evenings at the Kevin M. Brozek Center. Both days and times will be based upon mutual availability. I would like to have a group of 3-5 participants to get started. If you are interested in this program, please contact me immediately at 412 828 6881 or simply email dkrally@darrinjkrally.com. I would like to get this program off the ground in April.

Please spread the word and thank you for making our township a wonderful place to live!

    Best regards,

Dedication of the Rural Ridge School/ Kevin M. Brozek Community Center

It was Kevin M. Brozek’s dream to create a community center in the eastern district of Indiana Township on this very site. His dream has been realized by the dedication of the Rural Ridge School/Kevin M. Brozek Community Center on June 9, 2007. Kevin M. Brozek was elected to the position of Indiana Township Supervisor - Rural Ridge District, and later became Manager of the Township. He died in July of 2002.

When a developer bought the property surrounding the Rural Ridge School and the school building itself in order to develop the Rural Ridge Estates, Kevin Brozek negotiated with developers to donate back the school
building and adjacent property surrounding it. The completely refurbished building and surrounding grounds, parking lot and playground areas was accomplished with the help of many volunteers and several grants. Through the help of a number of grants from the Allegheny County Department of Community and Economic Development, an investment from the Township, as well as private donations, the property was completely refurbished.

Community Development Block Grant funding through the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for the Rural Ridge School House/Kevin M. Brozek Community Center provided funds along with donations that helped with:

    • Replacement of playground equipment, upgrade existing asphalt walking trail.
    • Install 3 Gas heat units, replace entire electrical system, install drop ceiling and trim, and install 2 public restrooms.
    • Install Concession Area, patio area, and unisex bathroom.
    • Install all new windows, entryway doors, new soffit/fascia/gutters/downspouts, carpeting, and baseboards.
    • Renovate kitchen, vending, and office areas, install a gymnasium/recreation room, 30 ft. flag pole, and install a water fountain.
    • Replace the existing roof, add parking area with lighting, and construct a walkway to the entrance of the facility.

    Kevin would be proud.
